I’ve been sitting on a bunch of old beats that I produced way back when, some dating back 10+ years to my college days.

So, I’m in Atlanta a little over a year ago polyin’ with my bro, Kontrol, when he hips me to the idea of pairing some of them with industry acapellas and remixing a collection of a select rapper’s work.

Next he asked, “If you could work with any rapper on those beats who would it be?” To which I replied, “Nas”. His lyrical content, flow, voice and overall style are a perfect fit for these particular beats.

I then found the best Nas acapellas available to me and matched them with my old work to produce my first full-length album, iLLmanik.

My intentions with iLLmanik were to preserve and intensify the feel of the original songs, while totally recreating and updating their overall sound.

iLLmanik is my tribute to one of the best to ever do it, Nasty Nas, as well as my swan song to my late moniker, Manik.

iLLmanik will be available for FREE DOWNLOAD on Tuesday, March 27^th, and if you f*ck with that “real”… you’re welcome!

Red Bull Music Academy Session Philly

This Red Bull Music Academy session is a taste of what to expect when the Red Bull Music Academy touches down in NYC for its 15th edition this fall.

Join us March 8th, at Sigma Sound Studio, for a conversation with Hip Hop Producer/Professor 9th Wonder and Grammy-nominated Rapper Phonte.

The conversation will be moderated by Philly 360 Creative Ambassador and legendary DJ, Rich Medina!

Then head over to PYT (1050 North Handcock Street, The Piazza at Schmidt’s in Northern Liberties, Philly) at 9pm for the After Party hosted by Phonte, with sounds by 9th Wonder and an opening set from yours truly.
